After Winning US Open 2021, Emma Raducanu’s Rank Soared Drastically : Okezone Sports

NEW YORK – Britain’s Emma Raducanu made a surprise at the 2021 US Open by coming out as champion. The 2021 US Open title has a big impact on the 18-year-old’s ranking.

As is known, Raducanu beat Canadian young tennis player, Leylah Fernandez, in the final last weekend. He won in straight sets with a score of 6-4 and 6-3.

Raducanu is the first Grand Slam champion to start the tournament from the first qualifying round. He also won with a fantastic record without ever losing a set.

In addition, she also became the first British woman to win a Grand Slam since 1977. Virgiana Wade is the last British woman to do so.

Reported from The Nation, Wednesday (15/9/2021), Raducanu’s rank rose by 127 positions. Now, Raducanu sits at number 23 in the world. That is the highest ranking during a career in the world of tennis.

Raducanu is five points ahead of Fernandez. The Canadian rose 45 places to number 28 in the world.

Meanwhile, former world number one Naomi Osaka dropped to fifth. He failed to defend his title at the 2021 US Open after being knocked out by Fernandez in the third round.

Then two years ago US Open champion Bianca Andreescu dropped 13 places to 20th. The 21-year-old missed out on the fourth round in this year’s edition.

Some women’s tennis players have changed positions in the world rankings. For Raducanu, ranking 23 and the 2021 US Open title is not the end for him, but the beginning. The 18-year-old has a lot to achieve in the future.
