A former Curry cash teammate: “They won’t return to the final”

Going to the Finals is never easy, and sometimes requires a real combination of circumstances. According to a former Warriors player, one team in particular took advantage of this last season… but shouldn’t be so lucky again!

Difficult to surprise more than the Suns last year. While they had not played in the playoffs since 2010, the Arizona players finished the regular season in second in the West, before making their way to the Finals. If the Bucks were too strong for them, it was still an incredible performance from Chris Paul & co.

Can they repeat it this year? Many doubt it, including Matt Barnes. Former podcast player and host All The Smoke, this one was ruthless towards the Cacti during a passage on ESPN. He explained that they had been very lucky in 2020-21, but that the Western conference will be very different this time around:

I love CP! I love Booker! Experience is the best teacher and they have it now. But if the West is healthy, it will be difficult to come out of it. I wouldn’t bet on them, with all due respect. Like I said, it’s a big and young team, with one of the best coaches we have ever seen in the history of the sport. But again, a lot has come into place for them to do what they did last year.

Words may sound harsh from the former footballer, but he has a valid point: The Suns took advantage of some exceptional circumstances last year. The Lakers couldn’t count on LeBron and Anthony Davis in good health, Denver had to do without Jamal Murray and the Clippers without Kawhi Leonard. It was finally Milwaukee who came to the end of them, with a whole group

Of course, you can’t blame Phoenix for all of this, but the facts are there. 2021-22 will be another story, and the competition has intensified particularly. The good news is that Monty Williams’ men are well versed in the systems and their roles, and therefore are prepared. They should therefore not be underestimated in any way.

Matt Barnes believes that the Suns have no chance to prove him wrong. It would also be a hell of a message sent to the league!
