500 euros per goal, invitations to the stadium, special shirts, French football puts the care staff in the spotlight

Weekend placed under the sign of solidarity for the Professional Football League and French clubs. On the occasion of the 6th day of Ligue 1 and the 8th day of Ligue 2, and in partnership with the Hospital Federation of France, the LFP will collect 500 euros per goal scored, in order to “improve the quality of life at work nursing staff, ”says the association.

An operation which should make it possible to collect several tens of thousands of euros over the weekend. By way of comparison, 49 goals were scored during the previous days of the championships, which would have allowed the LFP to collect 24,500 euros.

The campaign to support and honor healthcare workers, mobilized since the start of the health crisis in March 2020, began in the middle of the week, especially on social networks, where the LFP has adorned itself with white on all of its logos. The clubs took over on Thursday, multiplying the messages through the hashtag “#SupporterDesSoignants”.

Caregivers invited to the stadium

Beyond the operation organized at the national level by the LFP, the clubs are increasing the number of local initiatives. Several thousand members of the nursing staff are notably invited to attend the match taking place in their cities: they will be 300 in Angers, 300 in Rennes and “thousands” at the Pierre-Mauroy stadium in Lille during the 7th day, 300 also at the Stadium of Toulouse or about fifty in Rodez. At the Lens Racing club, some will be able to attend the warm-up from the edge of the field or even enjoy a meeting with Franck Haise, the coach. The balloons will be brought to the lawns by a member of the nursing staff.

Several links have been established between clubs and hospitals, such as Clermont Foot, which donated 150 jerseys to children at La Châtaigneraie Hospital in Beaumont (Puy-de-Dôme). Finally in Troyes, a percentage of sales of the third jersey, adorned with a “Heart of Troyes” coat of arms, will be donated to associations. According to the LFP, nearly 5 million euros were collected during the two previous seasons through these solidarity operations, to which are added multiple donations.
