Zverev, who was sown with the fourth number in the tournament, who eliminated Serb Novak Djokovic, the leader of the gold rank in the semi-finals, was only 79 minutes late on the court on Sunday, beating Hachanov 6-3, 6-1.
Zverev became only the second German tennis player after the Count of Steff in 1988, who won Olympic gold in singles, Boris Becker and Michael Steh four years later, winning the men’s doubles tournament.
The world’s fifth number has still not won any of the Grand Slam tournaments, including last year’s US Open final, in which he lost to Austrian Dominik Tim by two sets.
However, the 24-year-old can add this victory to his triumph in the 2018 ATP final tournament and four Masters series tournament titles.
Zverevs irresistibly served six times in the final and won in 16 combinations.
In the third game of the first set, he first realized the break ball, but in the ninth game he realized the second set ball.
To reach 5-0 in the second set, Zverev had five breakballs.
25-year-old Hachanov’s hopes for gold medals were over, and Zverev neared the end of the match with several good servings, winning the gold medal with the first match ball, Hachanov hitting the ball into the net.
