Virtus Kleb Ragusa confirms the Nigerian Ugo Simon

With Ugo Simon, the reconfirmations of the roster that will make up Virtus Kleb Ragusa in the next Serie B basketball championship continue. Coach Bocchino will also have the Nigerian player who joined the team in the second round last year.

Simon Ugochukwu Andrew, born in 2002, 199 cm guard comes from Nigeria to Italy in 2016 and joins Virtus Ragusa. Here he will play the U18 championship in 2017 and the following year he will always play the C Silver series with the same shirt. In 2018 he played in the ranks of Fortitudo Bologna, the first African in the history of the Emilian company, to play in the U18 and in the first team in A2. The following year with the same jersey he will reach promotion to the top national championship and will remain here until the end of 2020. At the beginning of 2021 he returns to Hyblean land to play in Serie B with Virtus Kleb Ragusa directed by coach Bocchino.

«When the call from Ragusa arrived last year – says Ugo Simon – I was very happy. First of all because finally the club where I was born and raised had the opportunity to play in a national championship and then because that city is home to me. When I arrived from Nigeria in Italy with a Virtus Ragusa project, I was given the opportunity to study and at the same time to train in basketball. For me it was a great opportunity and for this I will never cease to thank all those who have spent their time in my personal and sporting growth. The experience in Bologna was exciting and shaped me as a man and as a player. In the last season playing in Ragusa I found a heterogeneous but solid group. I am thrilled with this project and I am very happy to be part of it. I will make sure to spend even more as a player to always bring the positive result home and to honor this shirt that has given me so much. I am sure it will be a fantastic season and that the whole team will be ready to fight to reach increasingly important goals ».
