Virton builds a D1B team, Timothy Martin, Jonas Vinck and Aimery Pinga join Gaume

Virton announced on Monday the signatures of three players: the goalkeeper Timothy Martin, the defender Jonas Vinck and the attacker Aimery Pinga.

Martin, 20, comes from Nîmes (Ligue 1) where he was number 3 in the hierarchy of goalkeepers last season. Vinck, 25, had been without a club since September following the Roeselare bankruptcy. He had also played at Lierse in D1B. Pinga, 23, arrives from Sion (Swiss D1).

The Gaumais club had confirmed on Saturday the arrivals of Keres Mazangu from Beerschot and Din Sula, whose contract had come to an end on the Waasland-Beveren side. The resident of D1B also formalized the return of Emmanuel Coquelet as assistant coach of the new T1 Christophe Grégoire.

Demoted to amateur D2 because he had been refused his license, the Excelsior Virton had a 2020-2021 season without any match because of the coronavirus. Recently rehabilitated in D1B, the club is in the process of reconstruction and is looking for a workforce.

Virton will start his championship on August 15 against Westerlo, who also announced several incoming transfers on Monday, with the arrivals of Mamoutou N’Diaye, Jan Bernat and Maxim De Cuyper.
