Hugo Boucheron and Matthieu Andredias did not tremble. Favorites in the final of the two-sculls (it was 2:50 in the country), the French won by beating the Olympic record (6’00 “53).
This is the first medal for Rowing in Tokyo and the third in gold for the French delegation after that of Romain Cannone (fencing, epee) and Clarissen Agbegnenou (judo). The day therefore started very well for the Blues. Still rowing, a little later, two other French women shone. Laura Tarantola and Claire Bové will be in the final of the lightweight two-pair.

Grousset in the final of the 100 m freestyle
