KOMPAS.com – Indonesian women’s doubles Greysia Polii / Apriyani Rahayu won the gold medal in badminton at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
They got the medal after defeating Chen Qing Chen / Jia Yi Fan (China) in the final on Monday (2/8/2021) morning WIB.

Competing on Field 1 Musashino Forest Sport Plaza, Greysia/Apriyani won two straight games with a score of 21-19, 21-15 in 55 minutes.
Greysia/Apriyani became the first Indonesian women’s doubles to win an Olympic gold medal.
Previously, the best achievement of Indonesian women’s doubles in the four-year multi-sport competition was only the quarter-finals, namely at the 2016 Rio Olympics (Greysia Polii/Nitya Krishinda).
In addition, the success of Greysia/Apriyani ensured that Indonesia won its first gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Greysia/Apriyani had lost the first point. However, they managed to turn things around 2-1 after two drop shot Greysia fell into the opponent’s field of play.
