They offer to practice basketball at the Independencia Gymnasium, as an option for the entire community

One of the most practiced sports today, and which since its inception (1981, in Springfield, Massachusetts) has provided multiple benefits for well-being, is basketball.

The Canadian physical education teacher, James Naismith, innovated through this discipline in an effort to seek activation in his students, through a sport that could be carried out indoors.

The popularity of basketball has increased since then, thanks to the fact that it protects the cardiovascular system, improves muscular endurance and develops locomotor skills, according to expert studies, as well as being a fun way to play sports.

Such activity is one of the options offered at the Independencia neighborhood gym, directed by the sports promoter Óscar Javier Pimienta. Basketball classes for minors and adults, who seek to be physically active, start from the basic principles of burst sport, as they require an initiation process.

During the development of the classes, the students are taught the regulations of this discipline, as well as part of its history in the theoretical aspect. In practice, it is based on physical conditioning, that is, learning how to dribble the ball correctly and improving technique and teamwork, which is essential before executing plays.

Classes are held on Monday and Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., having as the only requirement the desire to learn and participate in healthy coexistence .
