To promote sustainable mobility by prioritizing the hierarchy of the mobility pyramid, hundreds of cyclists, skaters, runners and pedestrians from Aguascalientes took over the streets during the first edition of the “Via Aguascalientes” held today Sunday in the surroundings of the Tres Centurias Complex said Ricardo Serrano Rangel, head of the General Mobility Coordination (CMOV).
The state official stressed that for the first time the purpose of freeing the streets of motorized vehicles and generating a free circuit for the people of Aguas Calientes to freely walk by bicycle, rollerblades or skateboard, or walk accompanied by their pets on the Gómez Morín avenues and Alameda and a section of Madero and 28 de Agosto Street.
He added that the families of Aguascalientes lived a different experience, since in addition to freely touring the aforementioned area, they participated in various free activities for the whole family, among which he mentioned the children’s workshops of the State DIF System and the Aguascalentense Institute of Women ( IAM), as well as those offered by the Secretariat of Sustainability and Environment of the State of Aguascalientes (SSMA) and the Cyber Police of the Secretariat of Public Security of the State (SSP).
Serrano Rangel highlighted that among the most popular activities were the cycling circuit, as well as the sports exhibitions of weight lifting, judo, fencing, football for the blind and visually impaired, and skating that were in charge of the Sport Institute of the State of Aguascalientes ( IDEA); CMOV offered the loan of bicycles so that more people will join the ride.
After the formal act of starting Vía Aguascalientes, in which representatives of the different participating government agencies, as well as cycling groups, were present, the folkloric ballet of the Casa de la Cultura de Pabellón de Arteaga of the Cultural Institute Aguascalientes (ICA) delighted the attendees.
Finally, the Mobility coordinator stated that the next edition of the Vía Aguascaliente will be held next Sunday, September 12, from 08:00 to 14:00, with the closure of the same roads.
