At 45, the judoka of Martinican origin, Olivier Desroses, (4th dan black belt) worked hard to win the holy grail. With humility, he displays great satisfaction and measures the course of hard work involving sacrifice and self-sacrifice over the course of thirty years.

The taste of judo very young and very quickly

Olivier Desroses arrived in Guyana at the age of 3. His family moved to the Cogneau-Larivot district in Matoury, a booming city.

The youngest of the family, Olivier did his primary studies in Cayenne. He discovered judo at the age of 11 at the Saint-Joseph day school. At the start of the school year, his parents told him that he would join a judo class at the Seiryoku Samurai run by Urbain Belliard.

Olivier Desroses takes a liking to it. 5 years later, the talent detector Serge Antourel, Antilles-Guyane technical advisor, directs him to a Sports-Studies section in Orléans. A source of pride for Guyanese Judo League president Robert Parfait.

As soon as he arrived from Guyana, Olivier Desroses joined the Pôle France Judo d’Orléans in 1991. Graduated from US Orléans Loiret Judo Jujitsu, he joined the Sports-University Section of Orléans in 1993.

He began his career in 1994 as a departmental referee. 2 years later (1996), he officiated as regional arbitrator and in 1999, he was interregional arbitrator.
