The head coach of the Latvian national football team Dainis Kazakevičs has invited 27 football players to the camp before the three PK qualifying tournament games, including Kristers Tobers, Vladislavs Gutkovskis and Pavel Steinbors, who are playing in Poland.
Tobers will not be able to take part in this match due to health problems.
Three days later, the Latvian state unit will fight with Norway in the “Daugava” stadium, but on September 7, Latvians will visit Montenegro in Podgorica.

Kazakevich has decided which of the goalkeepers – Steinbor, Robert Ozols or Richard Matrevic – will guard the goal in the game against Gibraltar, but he did not reveal it. Only Matrevics has regular practice practice in the club (“Valmiera”).
“We have our own plan, the coaches have already told us. Today and tomorrow [otrdien] we will grind in the trainings, we will work on the work for the specific game. I would like to show good performance in front of the support of my spectators in the home game. Want to win. Beautiful and convincing, “Kaspars Dubra, one of the pillars of the defense of the Latvian national team, is quoted on the website of the Latvian Football Federation (LFF).
“We will have to cultivate a sufficiently aggressive style of play. We will have to be able to be clear and deal with the opponent’s strengths, because they have them. Thanks to which they can score,” Kazakevich said. “At the same time, this will be a game where more will depend on us.”
Latvia started the qualifying cycle of the 2022 World Cup with three games in March, when it lost to Montenegro 1: 2, gave way to the Netherlands 0: 2 and fought a draw 3: 3 with Turkey. In June, Lithuania was defeated 3: 1 in the Baltic Cup and failed against Estonia 1: 2, but in the middle the Latvians met Germany in a test game, to which they capitulated 1: 7.
Latvia ranks 136th in FIFA, Gibraltar in 194th place, Norway in 43rd place and Montenegro in 67th place.
In the European area, the samples are divided into ten subgroups, five for five samples and five for six samples. Ten group winners will qualify for the World Cup final, and ten runners-up and two top UEFA Nations League teams will be in the “play-off” round, which will be outside the top two in the sub-groups.
In the elimination tournament, 12 teams will be divided into three “play-off” branches, where in March 2022 three more participants of the final tournament will be determined.
The final of the 2022 World Cup will take place in Qatar, and due to the hot weather, the tournament will be played in the winter from November 21 to December 18.
In 2022, Qatar will host the last World Cup final with 32 teams. The 2026 tournament, hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States, will feature 48 national teams.
