The first day of the XXVII La Nueva España-Unicaja Banco Trophy Tournament took place with punctuality and normality on a day where time and the field were allies of the players. The match that opened the tournament yesterday, made up of Álvaro Ruiz de Huidobro / Diego Rendueles Meana and Daniel Granda González / Sabino García Cordero, had two versions of the game. For the first, Álvaro and Diego, things did not work out and they expected more from their game, fulfilling 38 scrach points. For their part, Daniel and Sabino did a little better and signed a scorecard of 39 scratch points, surpassed by José Manuel Gallego Méndez and Manuel Gallego Quintana, father and son, from Luarque, who with 39 scratch points and 42 handicap, they lead the scratch and first classifications. At the end of his tour, Manuel commented: “We played quite well and well-connected. We started with eagle on hole 1, which gave us a lot of morale, and when there was a setback, the other would fix it. We were very regular and ended with birdie, birdie. We had a good taste ”.
María Isabel Fano Infiesta and Ángel Cerdán Renovell completed their route with 42 handicap points, in second place in the first category. They have been playing together for many years and they know the triumph in the tournament, as they won the category in 2017. “I shot very well from the tee and my partner made the second shots very good. The best, the exit of hole 2 and the birdie of 8. The worst, the exit of 15. The car could not be this year by 3 meters, but for next year I will get it ”, said Isabel at the end of her game.
In the second category, the best result was obtained by Fernando García Arrojo and Sergio Rubiera Muñiz, with 45 points, followed by Madrid’s Ana María Morales Prieto and Fernando Ruiz Morales, who signed a card of 43 points.
The third were the Oviedo from Las Caldas, Isidro López Rubio and Manuel Ángel Jardón, with 42 points.
One of the unique teams of yesterday made up of Rafael Joglar and Alberto Vigil, local players, who have been playing the tournament for many years, or all of them, and who know the triumph in it, did not have their day and they will have to compliment the teammates who they signed better card. Regarding the special prizes of the “holes in one” of the XXVII edition of the LA NUEVA ESPAÑA golf tournament-Unicaja Banco Trophy, for a Nissan JUKE G 86 kw (117 CV) 6 M / T Acenta car and a Kymco motorcycle Miler 125 ABS, nobody got the hazana on holes 16 and 8, respectively. In the first category, the teams formed by: Gerardo García Vallina and Valentín Casquero Rodríguez; Mario Muñiz Antuña and José Antonio Calvo; Mario Estévez González and Mateo Muñiz Álvarez; Pelayo Fernández and Sergio Meana Menéndez; Gabino Gonzalo Suárez and Salvador Somoano Prieto; Alfredo Rubio Avello and Miguel Busto Argüello; José Ramón Feito Feito and José Antonio Cortina Riestra.
Many are licensed players from other communities who participate in the tournament, with 28 participants today, mostly from Madrid who repeat or play for the first time.
