The Big Bill admits defeat against Shawinigan

BASEBALL. The Cascades de Shawinigan made an outing in Estrie this Saturday (July 31, 0 when they visited the Big Bill in Coaticook to cross swords with the Big bill in the early evening. The visitors won by a score of 12 to 5.

In their second meeting of the day, the Cascades wasted no time before entering the scoring while Ismaël Ballard, with an optional, produced a point from the initial round. In the fourth round, the visitors added with two unequivocal long balls. The first from Michel Dagenais, for three points and the other from Ballard, for two. The Big Bill scored his first points at the end of the round on the two-point single from Jean-Sébastien Gauthier before registering another for an error.

Ballard had another run in the fifth inning when he hitched a ball when there was no more cushion room, bringing the score to 9-3. Samuel Lazzer closed the gap with a sacrifice ball in the sixth inning, but the Ballard festival continued in the next inning when he scored his fifth RBI with a single. Gabriel Thibodeau, with a single, produces a run in this set as well. Gabriel Fromental closes the scoring for the locals, with a hit at the end of the game.

Francis Désilets, the starter from the Cascades did very well allowing only three hits in six innings of work recording six strikeouts to collect his first victory of the season. His vis-à-vis, Frédérick Fauteux, did not know how to muzzle the attack of the visitors who suffered his first setback of the season.

The Big Bill (8-5), visits the Blue Sox of Thetford Mines (9-3) in the afternoon on Sunday (August 1st).
