The New England Patriots have divested running back Sony Michel, whom they sent to the Los Angeles Rams for a 2022 draft pick on Wednesday.

According to the NFL Network, the Patriots secured conditional fifth and sixth round picks at the next circuit auction.

Selected in the 31st place in the 2018 NFL Draft, Michel quickly made his way into the Patriots roster with two seasons of 931 and 912 yards. However, a quadriceps injury caused him to miss nearly seven weeks of activity in 2020.

In his career, he made 535 carries for 2,292 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also reached the end zone once catching a pass.

In California, Michel will join a group of running backs including Darrell Henderson Jr., Xavier Jones, Jake Funk and Otis Anderson. The Patriots will bet on Damien Harris, James White, Rhamondre Stevenson, Brandon Bolden and JJ Taylor.
