Skater Roberts Akmens reaches the grand final in the distance of 200 meters in a fierce battle

The stone finished fourth in its semifinals, covering 35.688 seconds. He lost 0.589 seconds to the rowing winner Kološ Čizmadis from Hungary, but the closest followers were 0.167 seconds behind the Latvian athlete.

The British Leam Heath was nine thousandths of a second behind the rowing winner, but the Swedish Peter Mening was 0.050 seconds slower. From the second semi-final to the A final, the Hungarian Sándor Totka, the Italian Manfredi Rica, as well as the Spaniard Carlos Arevalo and Saul Kravioto qualified.

The four fastest kayakers from each semi-final qualified for the final. The stone showed the seventh best result in the semi-finals.

The final A will start at 522 Latvian time.

25 athletes took part in the 200-meter distance in the preliminaries. Immediately, the two best athletes from each rowing qualified for the semi-finals, with Akmenis finishing second in his race. Of all the pre-race participants, Akmenis had the 12th best result.

Akmens is the winner of the 2019 World U-23 Championship, but in the same year he took the 19th place in the adult competition at the World Championships.

In the national selection competition for the 200-meter qualification, Akmens beat the leading Latvian kayakers of the last decade, Aleksejs Rumjancevs.
