Robert Huygens at the head of the Pro League, pending the follow-up

The new president will stay for a year, while waiting for an independent to take his place.

The election of Robert Huygens to the presidency of the Belgian Union was validated on Monday by the Board of Directors with seven votes for, two against and one abstention. A vote without surprise, and prepared behind the scenes in recent days to make room for an independent president, in a year.

The last paragraph of the Federation’s press release is also quite clear. After having specified that a general assembly will be organized at the end of this season, it is mentioned that, “in this way, all statutory risks are avoided and URBSFA will have the possibility, for the first time in its history, of electing an independent federal president from June 2022”. The possibility will quickly materialize, and amateur candidates wishing to present themselves will have to think twice before embarking on the race.
