[스포츠서울 | 안은재기자] ‘Racquet Boys’ announced a pleasant start with actors Jun-sang Tang, Sang-yeon Sang, Kang-hoon Kim, and Hyun-wook Choi, who are expected to see more in the future.

SBS Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Racket Boys’ discovered actors with a bright future. Actor Tang Jun-sang, who worked tirelessly on ‘Crash Landing on You’, ‘Move to Heaven’ and ‘Racquet Boys’, Sang-yeon Son, who appeared as a scene stealer in the movie ‘Hummingbird’, and Lee Byung-hun’s child role in ‘Mr. From ‘When the Camellia Blooms’ to Kim Kang-hoon, who made a mark on the small screen as Pilgu, anticipation is being raised for the future steps of the ‘Racket Boys’ boys. The production team of ‘Racket Boys’ said, “It was a shooting site where good synergy between the actors shined. All of the actors have great acting and personality, so I think they will become great actors in the future.”

Tang Jun-sang and Kim Kang-hoon first debuted as child actors. Despite appearing in big works since last year, Tang Jun-sang showed off his unique character digestion with a completely different image. Debuting through EBS’s ‘Pluto Secret Society’ in 2014, he appeared in tvN’s ‘Crash Landing on You’ last year as Geum Geum-dong and made his mark in the small screen. In addition, in the Netflix original ‘Move to Heaven’, he was well-received for expressing symptoms with fine gaze processing and movement as a keepsake organizer suffering from Asperger’s Syndrome. Then, in SBS ‘Racquet Boys’, he took on his first lead role as Yoon Hae-gang, the confident ace of the high school badminton club. He is a boy who is somewhat rough and confident but has a soft heart, expressing the freshness and passion of youth sports dramas.

In addition, rookie Sang-yeon Lee caught the eye with her fresh appearance in ‘Racquet Boys’. In ‘Racquet Boys’, Son Sang-yeon takes on the role of Bang Yun-dam, a popular man and a seed of interest who checks SNS in the morning. He left a deep impression as Dae-hoon, an older brother tormenting Eun-hee in the movie ‘Hummingbird’. In the web drama ‘Attempt for Love’, he came up with a fresh charm through the role of ‘Kang Parang’, a high school student who is always serious about dating but fails countless times. In ‘Racquet Boys’, he showed a different charm than before by claiming to have both looks and skills.

Kang-hoon Kim also stood out in this ‘Racquet Boys’ with a full role, not someone’s child. In KBS2’s ‘When the Camellia Blooms (2019)’, Kim Kang-hoon took on the role of Gong Hyo-jin’s deepest son, Pil-gu, and made a mark on the small screen with his thick tearful acting. Appearing as Lee Seung-gi’s child in tvN’s ‘Mouse’, he drew attention with his eerie psychopath acting. Two years have passed since then, and now, as a grown-up, he disassembled into the role of Yong-tae Lee, the youngest badminton club member in ‘Racquet Boys’, showing chemistry between his brothers and other actors. Choi Hyun-wook, who led 10 million views with his warm visuals in the web drama ‘Real: Time: Love’, also brought warmth to his brother’s chemistry with Kim Kang-hoon after going through SBS ‘Model Taxi’.

‘Racquet Boys’ was loved as a healing product in the small screen, capturing the passion, friendship, and love of young people towards their dreams with the background of the high school badminton club. Despite the difficulties of terrestrial dramas, it has consistently recorded an audience rating of 5% (provided by Nielsen Korea, based on metropolitan households) and has a solid audience. A broadcasting official said, “Since it’s a sports youth drama, the actors worked hard to maintain good chemistry. The actors received special training for about 6 months to direct the badminton game scene. The filming took place in a good atmosphere like a class.”

Meanwhile, ‘Racquet Boys’ was scheduled to end on the 2nd, but the last broadcast was canceled due to the Olympic program, and the last episode aired on the 9th. The production team, which is about to end, pointed out, “Through the final episode, all the rice cakes that have been passed down so far will be recovered, giving you the exhilaration of badminton smashing technology.”
