The most recent transfer rumors around the receiver of the Cleveland Browns, Odell Beckham Jr., indicate that Chicago Bears They could try adding the pro-bowler three times.

The trade would send defensive lineman Akiem Hicks to Cleveland, strengthening the inside of the Browns’ defensive line. The deal was recently proposed in a Bleacher Report article, and reporter Brad Gannon said it would be foolish for the Browns not to make the deal.

You are all going to say that the Cleveland Browns won’t trade Beckham and the Chicago Bears won’t trade Hicks. Perfect, but it would be foolish for the Browns to not reach an agreement if the Bears accepted it. They were very successful without Beckham at the end of the season, and there is no question that they could improve their inner defensive line.

Beckham is recovering from a ligament injury but is expected to be ready to start the season, coming back little by little. He only played in seven games last season before injuring himself and sitting out for the rest of the year. He had 23 receptions for 319 yards and three touchdowns.

Hicks would bolster a job the Browns currently rely on from big man Andrew Billings and veteran Malik Jackson. Billings chose not to play last season for fear of Covid-19 and Jackson has only started 17 games in the last three seasons.

Hicks played in 15 games last season, amassing 49 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Hicks is unhappy with his current contract and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said they are looking for a new deal. The 31-year-old is entering the final year of a four-year contract worth a total of $ 48 million.

The Browns are taking “proper time” with Beckham

Despite the rumors, Beckham appears to be in the Browns’ plans for the future, and they have been careful during his slow return to action. While Beckham looks great running and moving, he has yet to participate in team plays and has not played in the preseason (as most starters have)

“The reason for this has been to do things at the appropriate time and with the monitoring of the medical team”, said Browns coach Kevin Stefanski. “We will continue to do that. At some point he will participate in group exercises and stuff, but we will make sure he is ready for that. “

Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield has been working alongside Beckham in the offseason and in practice to stay in sync – something that hasn’t been easy in their first few seasons together.

We practice aerial plays. We practice during special teams breaks, every day that I can race, ”Mayfield told reporters. “We are trying to take care of his legs for when the season starts, but now we are practicing a lot.

KhaDarel Hodge catcher gets noticed

The Browns will have tough decisions to make at catcher and running back on layoff day. Beckham and Landry are top two – if they’re healthy – while Rashard Higgins and Donovan Peoples-Jones are battling for third place.

The Browns will also keep rookie Anthony Schwartz on the roster and have liked the performance of running back / catcher Demetric Felton. Additionally, KhaDarel Hodge has made great efforts to stay with the team thanks to a strong preseason. Against the Giants, Hodge had two receptions for 21 yards, including one spectacular score in the first quarter.

“It felt great,” Hodge said of the touchdown. “I had wanted to get into the end zone for a long time. I thank God ”.

Since joining the Browns in 2019, Hodge has recorded fifteen receptions for 256 yards.
