Cosmos, whose company is co-owner and CEO of Barça center-back Gerard Piqué, has bought the television broadcasting rights in Spain of the French league, in which militates the Argentine Lionel Messi (Paris Saint-Germain), for sub-license them to a third-party chain or platform to relay them.

The purchase, made with the company Enjoy Television, includes the exploitation in Spain of the television rights of the two main categories of French football, Ligue 1 i Ligue 2, for the next three seasons, according to ‘2Playbook’ and EFE has been able to confirm through sources at Kosmos Holdings.

The goal of the company run by Gerard Piqué is sublicense or lease retransmission rights to a television channel or internet television platform that operates in Spain, company sources told EFE.

For that, Kosmos is not expected to broadcast on its own the French championship, as it did with this summer’s 2021 America’s Cup, which was offered through the narrator’s channel Ibai Plans on the live video platform via the Twitch internet.

The French championship, which in previous seasons had offered Movistar for Spanish fans, has gained special interest since the arrival of the Argentine Lionel Messi in Paris Saint-Germain, with which could make his debut next Sunday against Reims, in a match corresponding to the fourth day of the French championship.
