One-way victory for Canadian basketball players

Canada has had a great tournament so far. His 2-1 record guaranteed him from the start second place in his group and a place in the quarter-finals.

The Canadians took control of the game with the first four points. They never let the Australians catch up with them afterwards.

Head coach Marc-Antoine Ducharme took the opportunity to offer more playing time to his less experienced players, such as Quebecer Sandrine Bérubé.

The 22-year-old para-athlete had a good game. She amassed 6 points with a 100% success rate. The star players were thus able to rest for the knockout matches.

The depth of the Canadian bench is very reassuring for the quarter-finals. Nine of the 11 players entered the score and 4 of them scored more than 9 points. On the Australian side, it is no big surprise Amber Merritt who recorded 21 of 37 points for his team.

The Canadians never took their victory for granted and were very aggressive throughout the game. Their consistency allowed them to widen the gap to 39 points at the end of the game.

The Australian team finished in 2nd place at the Paralympic Games in London. Since 2012, the program has been under reconstruction and has also lost the services of its top player, Annabelle Lindsay.

The 23-year-old para-athlete was forced to retire hastily when the eligibility criteria were changed by the International Paralympic Committee.

This victory put a balm on the heartbreaking defeat of the Canadian team suffered the day before against the Germans.

Canada will face the United States in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
