NFL: Greg Knapp succumbs to his injuries

New York Jets deputy Greg Knapp, who is known to have worked alongside Steve Young and Peyton Manning, succumbed to his injuries after being hit by a reckless driver.

Knapp died surrounded by his wife Charlotte and his children Jordan, Natalie and Camille. He was only 58 years old.

In a statement, the family wrote that Knapp never regained consciousness after being punched while cycling down the street in San Ramon, Calif. The teenager who hit him was texting while driving, reported a New York TV station affiliated with CBS.

Knapp was hired in January by new head coach Robert Saleh. He was to act as an aerial game specialist. He was to help the development of second choice in the last draft, quarterback Zach Wilson.

Knapp was highly respected in the National Football League. Besides Young and Manning, he has also worked with Jeff Garcia, Rick Mirer, Matt Schaub, Michael Vick and Matt Ryan.
