Nelly Korda takes the lead after the 2nd round, Delacour and Boutier in the top 30

The American Nelly Korda took control of the Olympic tournament in Tokyo, thanks to a card of 62 Thursday, or nine under the par, on the course of the Country Club of Kasumigaseki.

In 2nd place after the first round with two strokes of the Swedish Madelene Sagström, Nelly Korda (23) only made a double bogey on her last hole on Thursday, after an exceptional day of nine birdies and even an eagle on turn N.6. Without her mistake on hole N.18, she would have killed all suspense for Olympic gold, with a total of 129 (-13). She is however four strokes ahead, before the last two laps, on a quartet led by the Danish Nana Koerstz Madsen, who returned a card of 64 after 69 on the first lap. Another Danish, Emily Kristine Pedersen (66 Thursday), and the Indian Aditi Ashok, are also four strokes behind Nelly Korda. Nelly Korda’s older sister, Jessica Korda (28) occupies 11th place, five moves from the provisional podium. The French Perrine Delacour (-2, 27th) and Céline Boutier (-1, 30th) are in the top 30.
