MotoGP, Maverick Vinales: “I apologize to Yamaha”

Interviewed by Sky Sport, the Spaniard explained his state of mind: “I was very frustrated with the results. The future? I don’t know if this situation can be fixed”

This is “the case” of the MotoGP 2021, the storm between Maverick Viñales and the official Yamaha. And after the fire communiqué published by the team, which took the bike away from the rider for the Austrian GP and in fact became the antechamber of his dismissal, the words of the Spaniard, Moto3 world champion in 2013, also arrived. Interviewed by Sky Sport, Viñales has publicly apologized, in an attempt to mend a relationship that is hard to define as flawed.

apologies to yamaha

“I am very sad, strange situation, it is difficult to manage it but I am lucky to have people around who are helping me. I am also very frustrated with the race results which were not as I would have liked ”, Viñales began. He then explained the “revs” in the return lap of the Styria GP, behavior that Yamaha has labeled as “dangerous for the bike and the rider’s safety”. Maverick replied: “I was frustrated, because in the second start the bike was not like the first part of the race. I felt so much anger inside me, I apologize to the Yamaha because I channeled my energy badly and I had the wrong behavior ”.

the repentance of vinales

After the apology, Viñales continued, showing repentance – sincere, which is “political” is another matter – and explaining: “I want to thank the pilots who have shown me so much solidarity in recent days, I have also received messages of closeness from colleagues with which maybe I didn’t have such deep relationships. And that made me happy ”, he pointed out to Sky.

to the future

Finally Maverick on the future, despite the apologies to the team and the Japanese manufacturer, was very cautious: “I don’t know if this situation can be fixed – translation, it is not clear that the Spaniard can return to the saddle in the British GP on August 29th – right now I want to try to reflect a lot and find personal serenity, trying to come back stronger than before and trying to give 100% in the race ”. Whether it’s at Silverstone or with Aprilia 2022, we’ll see.
