Mookie Betts returns to injured list

The Dodgers placed patrolman Mookie Betts on the disabled list Wednesday for a swollen right hip, retroactive to Sunday, and activated Dominican pitcher Edwin Uceta.

Betts, 28, is disbarred for the second time this year. In 87 games with the Dodgers, the five-time All-Star is hitting .277 with 17 homers and 44 RBIs.

Uceta, 23, returns to the Dodgers team after entering the disabled list Aug. 1 with a back strain. On the year, he is 0-3 with a 7.64 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 12 appearances (one start).

The Dodgers called Betts’ ailment “inflammation” when the ranger was disbarred last month, but a cortisone shot has not solved the problem.
