MLB – American League: In full race, the Athletics avoid the sweep against the White Sox

CHICAGO – Matt Olson gave his team the lead with a two-run homerun, Matt Chapman added a solo slap and the Oakland Athletics came in from behind to beat the Chicago White Sox 5-4 on Thursday .

Sean Murphy also hit a long ball for the Athletics, who avoided being swept away in this four-game series against the leaders of the American Central section.

Oakland’s team ended a four-game losing streak and maintained their grip on the second-place draft in the American.

The Olson Home, in the seventh inning against reliever Michael Kopech (3-2) was his 31st of the campaign and he gave the Athletics a 5-3 lead.

Zack Collins came down to 5-4 in the ninth inning when shortstop Elvis Andrus collided with teammate Starling Marte trying to catch a candle. On play, the official scorer awarded Andrus an error.

Yankees continue their momentum

Luke Voit hit a two-run double and the New York Yankees won a seventh straight game, winning 7-5 over the Minnesota Twins.

The Yankees are going through their best time of the season. With a 19-5 record since July 27, the club is staying the course for a playoff game in the Big Apple.

New York led 3-0 after Tyler Wade and Kyle Higashioka crossed home plate on Voit’s double in the third against John Gant.

Higashioka hit a two-run homerun and a one-run double.

Giancarlo Stanton also hit a long ball for the winners.

Bronx native Andrew Velazquez had two hits and stole one goal. Since the all-star break, the Yankees have 30 stolen goals in 33 games.

Jameson Taillon (8-4) allowed three runs and five hits in five one-third innings. He’s 7-0 since June 24, in 11 outings.

Jake Cave and Miguel Sano hit home runs for the Twins.

Gant (0-1) gave up four runs and three hits in three and a third innings.

The Mariners win; a single point for Toro

Mitch Haniger and Ty France produced three runs each helping the Seattle Mariners snatch a 9-8 victory over Rangers, Texas. The Mariners completed a sweep in Arlington.

Quebecer Abraham Toro provided a one-run single for Seattle, which is three games from a playoff berth in the American League.

Haniger slammed a three-run homerun in the second, making the score 5-0.

Toro hit a safe place in the third, giving his team a 6-0 lead.
