Marie Patouillet opens the French medal counter

The Frenchwoman Marie Patouillet, the only female representative in track para-cycling, dominated the New Zealander Nicole Murray in the small final of the individual pursuit this Wednesday, August 25. Victim of a malformation of the foot and ankle, and of a difference in length between her two legs, Marie Patouillet started track cycling only three years ago. “I am delighted, I hope that many other French athletes will follow behind. I don’t think I realize too much. First Games, first event, first medal … Maybe on the podium I would achieve a little more when I have it in my hands. I am very satisfied with my two efforts today, a personal record and a second chase not ridiculous at all, just a second behind my record. With the pressure, the emotions that there are, it’s just great ”, said the 33-year-old doctor.
