In the badminton world, there is such a jargon: “three-point shot, seven-point line”, this sentence is enough to reflect the importance of stringing to the badminton racket. If the badminton racket is the weapon that badminton players rely on to fight, then the stringer is the one who polishes the weapon and gives the racket its soul.

The 47-year-old Li Wenlian is an international badminton stringer. He was born in Tufuze Village, Yukou Town, Fangshan County. She has developed a tenacious character. She loved sports since she was a child and became a race walker. After getting acquainted with her husband, she went to Cixi, Zhejiang, and opened a badminton supplies store near Yubo Square. She usually spends more time in the store and started to learn how to thread badminton rackets. She has been wearing it for more than ten years.

On July 30, the author interviewed Li Wenlian through WeChat. She said, “The stringer is classified as the loneliest job in the world, because during the competition, the stringer has to stand for more than ten hours a day, despite the high load, I feel very honored to be able to come to Tokyo, Japan to wear badminton rackets for the Olympic athletes. I will work hard to do this job, take every racket seriously, and wish the Chinese team good results and more gold medals.” She also told the author that she grew up in Fangshan, and wish Fangshan’s father and villagers a prosperous life, Fangshan’s economic development and prosperity, and wish all relatives good health.

Li Wenlian told the author that she was the only Chinese stringer in the Tokyo Olympic badminton team. On July 18, she went to Tokyo to start the first Olympic badminton stringing service tour.

It is reported that in November 2014, Li Wenlian made his first appearance at the China Badminton Open as a stringer, providing stringing services for professional athletes. The following year, she passed the international badminton stringer examination. In 2017, Li Wenlian passed the international threading master certificate, which is the top threading master qualification certificate. The pass rate was only 2% during the assessment. At present, there are less than 20 people with this qualification in China. (Luliang Daily)Return to Sohu to see more
