Lauri Markkanen has several offers to leave the Chicago Bulls

After the most disappointing season of his career with the Chicago Bulls, Lauri Markkanen was excited to face free agency. The player has gone from head to project starting from the second unit in just two years. An important descent that you want to leave behind with a change of scenery. “I need a reset” he said in an interview for a Finnish media, while ensuring that “we have already had offers from various teams.” The player did not want to provide names.

Although Markkanen has always been professional and committed to the team, he anticipated last May that he would go on the market with an open mind. He does not even think about returning to the Bulls even though these are the ones who could put the most money on the table. So far, the Finn has been linked to the Charlotte Hornets and has had to reject the San Antonio Spurs offer as being below expectations.

The last franchise to ring up has been the Boston Celtics, who would have to spend a mid-level exception of 9.5 million dollars. This operation seems unlikely, since Brad Stevens’ movements point to a year of transition in order to be ambitious in the offseason 2022. Markkanen would have to arrive with a multi-year contract, so there would be less salary space with respect to this idea. In addition, the Celtics do not assure him of the type of project that he himself seeks, since the ideal for the Finn is to reach a competitive squad but with room for growth and a young core. Boston aspires to be in contention again as soon as possible, which almost ruled them out of the fight.
