American Nelly Korda still leads the Olympic golf tournament after three rounds, three strokes ahead of Indian Aditi Ashok. The French Perrine Delacour and Céline Boutier are respectively 20th and 40th.

It’s starting to smell good for Nelly Korda! The 23-year-old American will start on Saturday for her last round of the Olympic golf tournament, three strokes ahead of her runner-up, the Indian Aditi Ashok. The world No. 1, daughter of former 1998 Australian Open winner Petr Korda and sister of 50th ATP player Sebastian, had a less brilliant day than the previous two, but that did not prevent her from stay ahead with a comfortable lead. Nelly Korda returned a card of 69 this Friday, two strokes under par, thanks in particular to three birdies (but she committed a bogey at hole 8). She is therefore three strokes ahead of Ashok, world No. 200, who for her part returned a card of 68 with five birdies and who could well bring Saturday a sixth medal to his country. But behind, it grows, with no less than four golfers who occupy the third place, two strokes of the second: the Australian Hannah Green, the Japanese Mone Inami, the New Zealander Lydia Ko and the Dane Emily Pedersen. The last day will therefore be rich in suspense, and we could well be entitled, as in the men’s tournament last week, to play-offs for the bronze medal, or even the silver medal.

Delacour goes back to 20th place

On the French side, the dream of a medal has almost vanished, barring a miracle. Perrine Delacour had her best day of the tournament with a card of 69 (three birdies), which allowed her to move up to 20th place in the standings, but six strokes from the provisional podium. As for Céline Boutier, she could not do better than a score of 72 (four birdies) and occupies 40th place, just in par, ten strokes from third place.
