Josip Stanišić – a name that was known to very few connoisseurs before this season seems to have good chances for the starting XI at the beginning of the season FC Bayern Munich to be able to calculate. This is mainly due to his good performance in the pre-season preparation so far.
In the test match against SSC Napoli, the two-footed German-Croat was in the starting line-up of new coach Julian Nagelsmann for the fourth time in a row. He knows how to convince his coach through his versatility. While he had helped out against the Neapolitans as a left-back, he had previously been on the field as a center-back, right-back and sixth in the friendly matches.
Due to the diverse position profile as well as its good performance – the Munich evening newspaper speaks of “successful” and “sovereign” missions – Stanišić can see himself as the winner of the preparation at FCB.
Stanišić soon in the starting line-up in a competitive game?
The 21-year-old will certainly be looking forward to Friday’s game in the DFB Cup, because Nagelsmann will continue to occupy the position of left-back for his first competitive game as Bayern coach.
In the first round of the cup, the southern Germans will be guests at the top division club Bremer SV, but will travel there without the two potential left-backs Lucas Hernández and Alphonso Davies – both are still out due to injuries.
For this case, among others, Omar Richards was hired, who, however, has shown very mixed performances in the previous tests. For Stanišić, who is actually most likely to be in the right-back position, these are good conditions for the coming weekend.

The versatile defender only signed a professional contract until 2023 in July and already enjoys the club’s full support. Sports director Hasan Salihamidžić describes him as a “great boy” who is fully trusted to take the important step into the professional team.
For Stanišić himself it is “the greatest dream to play for FC Bayern”. Even as a child, he regularly watched the team’s units on Säbener Strasse. Now he can make that dream come true.
