Update 8.55 pm: HLN and Het Nieuwsblad know that Van Damme has been late for training more than once in recent weeks. In addition, several times he did not show up for appointments with the medical staff.

With a short statement, Malinwa announced that Joachim Van Damme has been referred to the B-squad for disciplinary reasons. The exact reason will not be elaborated further. “The club will stick to this communication for the time being,” it sounds sec.
Joachim Van Damme (30) ended up at KV Mechelen in 2018 and grew into a strong holder and booster in midfield. Last season, Van Damme saw the second half of the season go up in smoke after an injury.
The club has decided today to return Joachim Van Damme to the B-team with immediate effect, due to disciplinary reasons.
