Italian Lamont Marcell Jacobs succeeds Usain Bolt in the 100m final

Italian Lamont Marcell Jacobs won the 100m at the Tokyo Olympic Games on Sunday, succeeding sprint legend Usain Bolt, triple champion in 2008, 2012 and 2016.

In a very open 100m final at the Tokyo Olympics, the Italian Lamont Marcell Jacobs pulled out all the stops on Sunday August 1 to become the fastest man in the world. The sprinter won in 9 sec 80, a new European record, and became the first European Olympic champion on the straight since the Briton Linford Christie in 1992.
