Yamaha CEO Lin Jarvis admits that his party made a wrong prediction when disposing of Valentino Rossi and maintain Maverick Vinales in the factory team on MotoGP 2021.
Vinales officially parted ways with Yamaha last week. The conflict between Top Gun and the Japanese manufacturer team made both parties terminate the contract early. Even though Vinales has a contract with Yamaha until MotoGP 2022.
In an interview with Speedweek, Jarvis admitted that Yamaha made a mistake in predicting Vinales’ position in the 2021 MotoGP. At first, Yamaha predicted that the Spaniard could shine after Rossi’s departure to Petronas Yamaha. Yamaha initially thought that Vinales had always been under the shadow of The Doctor.
“Vinales has the opportunity to change teams for MotoGP 2021 and 2022. A good offer is coming [dari Ducati], and we know the great potential of Vinales. At the same time, Rossi’s move to Petronas was planned last year, making Vinales the lead rider in MotoGP 2021,” Jarvis said. AS.

Jarvis admits that Yamaha made a wrong prediction regarding Vinales’ career in MotoGP 2021. However, Jarvis did not answer if Yamaha took the opposite decision, namely releasing Vinales and keeping Rossi in a duet with Fabio Quartararo in MotoGP 2021.
