In an interview with Marca, Garuba talked about his expectations for this new stage.

“For me it will be a different experience because I’m in a team where they won’t ask me the same things I did at Real Madrid, of course. The Rockets are rebuilding and will make room for many young people. The key will be to improve day by day and this is also my goal, to grow day by day, working and improving many aspects that I have not taken care of much in these years due to the role I had at Real Madrid. Having the ball in my hand more often, the kind of thing I couldn’t do in Madrid, where I had to adapt to a role. In general, I want to be able to do more and more things on the pitch… Since the Summer League they haven’t asked me for many things, they have given me freedom. This is the big difference with the game here, the freedom of movement. There aren’t many positions there, there is no point guard, there is no guard, there are no wings. It’s more of a free game, and for me this is something that benefits me because of the characteristics I have ”.
