As it looks now, the transfer of Joey Veerman to AZ will not come. SC Heerenveen asks too high an amount from the Alkmaarders. Max Huiberts (AZ) and Ferry de Haan (Heerenveen) have provided an update on the situation.
Veerman already revealed on Sunday that AZ has made an offer of approximately 4.5 million. However, Heerenveen wants much more and it is now getting stuck on that. “We have indicated how much financial stretch there is still in our view,” Huiberts told Voetbal International.
“But Heerenveen apparently has higher amounts in mind. We thought we had a reasonable chance of taking over Joey. But in the current situation it will be difficult. Unless Heerenveen changes its mind. (…) We are not going to suddenly throw our working method overboard. We are prepared to go far for Veerman, but there are limits,” says Huiberts.
“AZ has been clear, just like us. The chance that it will continue is not very great at the moment,” De Haan tells Omrop Fryslan. The transfer market is still open until August 31 at 11:59 PM.
