Gwatt (Thun): Armed robbery on a petrol station shop

Late on Monday evening, a gas station shop in Gwatt (BE) was robbed. The perpetrator threatened with a handgun.

On Monday, August 30, 2021, shortly after 9:30 p.m., the Bern canton police received a report that a petrol station shop on Gwattstrasse in Gwatt (municipality of Thun) had just been robbed. According to initial findings, the unknown perpetrator entered the petrol station shop, showed the employee a handgun and asked for cash. He handled the booty and fled on foot in the direction of Wohlhausenweg.

The perpetrator is described as a younger man, around 170 centimeters tall, with a three-day beard and light skin color. At the time of the crime, he was wearing a black baseball cap.

The Bern canton police have started investigations under the direction of the Bernese Oberland Regional Public Prosecutor’s Office. Witnesses are wanted. People who can provide information about the perpetrator or who have made suspicious observations are asked to call +41 33 227 61 11.
