Grealish has scored goals, hopefully more

Manchester

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is pleased Jack Grealish did not take long to score his first goal. Grealish is expected to be even sharper in the future.

Grealish played his first home game at the Etihad stadium, Saturday (21/8/2021) night WIB, when City faced Norwich City. Grealish also took advantage of this match to steal the attention of City fans who had been waiting for his action.

It didn’t take long for Grealish to get his name on the scoreboard. In the 22nd minute an attack from the right by Gabriel Jesus was ended by a draw at the far post and there was Grealish who was free to wait.

The funny thing is that the ball bounced and hit Grealish’s knee before it landed in Tim Krul’s goal. City closed the first half with the score 2-0 after opening the scoring through a Krul own goal.

In the second half, City secured a 5-0 victory through additional goals from Aymeric Laporte, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez. An affirmation that City have bounced back after the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last week.

What’s more important is that Grealish can at least open the tap for City. At a price of 100 million pounds, Grealish is certainly always looking forward to goals and assists, as he did during his time at Aston Villa.

Guardiola also believes Grealish has the ability to exceed his abilities during his time at Villa. Guardiola likens Jack Grealish now to Sterling at the beginning of his arrival to City.

Sterling had a poor finish as he only scored 21 goals in his first two seasons before jumping to 77 goals in the next three seasons.

“If he has the mentality like Raheem to always score goals, of course he can (scored more goals),” said Pep Guardiola. Manchester Evening News.

“When I arrived here four or five years ago, Raheem had no goal instinct. Then everything changed. Today Raheem scored a goal because he is in a middle position like a number nine,” he continued.

“He is now a goal machine. He has always been in that position. He has changed his mindset and thinks he will continue to score goals. If Jack had the mentality of Raheem, he could score a lot of goals.”
