Good news for the Colts

football/nfl/story">

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz will return to training on Monday.

That’s what head coach Frank Reich said at a press briefing on Sunday.

At the end of July, Wentz suffered a foot injury and was forced to undergo surgery. The Indiana team then indicated that the recovery period for its athlete could take five to 12 weeks.

The Colts acquired the 28-year-old pivot from the Philadelphia Eagles last offseason. The Indianapolis club gave up a third-round pick in 2021 and a second-round pick in 2022 to secure his services.

The quarterback has been plagued by several injuries since making his NFL debut in 2016. Last year he was limited to 12 starts due to his fickleness. In 68 games on the Goodell circuit, Wentz had 62.7% of the passes he attempted for gains of 16,811 yards and 113 touchdowns. He was also the victim of 50 interceptions.

The Colts will meet offensive lineman Quenton Nelson at the same time as Wentz. Like the man he is to protect, Nelson had undergone foot surgery and his recovery period was estimated to be between five and 12 weeks. Another offensive lineman, Ryan Kelly, is also expected to return to training during the next week.
