FIBA 2023 World Cup Qualification draw will be held tomorrow – TRT Spor

In partnership with Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines, the FIBA ​​Basketball World Cup 2023, which will be held two years later, will be hosted by more than one country for the first time.

The FIBA ​​Basketball World Cup 2023 competition system, which will continue in the new period of the FIBA ​​tournament qualifiers applied for the FIBA ​​2019 World Cup, will consist of 6 windows that will be played for 15 months in Africa, America, Asia/Oceania and Europe. Each qualifying window will run for 9 days and the windows will run from November 2021 to February 2023.

In the windows 80 countries will compete for a place among the 32 teams in the 2023 World Cup. National teams will play home and away matches in each of the qualifying windows.

In the World Cup Qualifiers, 16 national teams from Africa will compete for 5 places, 16 countries will compete for 7 places in the America qualifiers, and 16 teams will compete among 6 countries in the Asia/Oceania region.

The hosts Philippines and Japan qualify directly for the FIBA ​​Basketball World Cup 2023. Both teams will play in the first and second rounds of the FIBA ​​Basketball World Cup 2023 Asian Qualifiers and will automatically advance to the next stage.

Following the decision from the FIBA ​​Executive Committee, Indonesia must be among the top eight teams in the FIBA ​​2021 Asian Cup in order to qualify automatically.

In the World Cup European Qualifiers, where Turkey will also compete, 32 national teams will compete for 12 places.
