ARLINGTON – Isaac Alarcón hopes to stay with the Cowboys and have a chance to play after he had it in all four preseason games.
The Mexican knows that competition is tough on the list of 53 players who will be on the active regular-season roster. But for him, it has not been.
Alarcón played two quarters again this Sunday in the final preseason game, which the Cowboys lost 34-14 to the Jaguars.
“Right now, I just think I hope to stay with the Cowboys. I want this team. My new goal was to be in the NFL. This is a blessing to me. I thank God every day for the opportunity that I have.”
The Mexican played in the position he has had since the spring, left guard, where he moved from tackle, as he had arrived in the NFL International Pathways program to the Cowboys.
His work and good performance on and off the field has been noticed by his coaches, teammates and even by the Hard Knocks program, in which he was one of the protagonists in the third chapter of the reallity show, last Tuesday.
“My coaches and teammates told me that I have improved a lot since last season. Right now I am able to play in preseason. I thank God I did not play last year because I was not mentally ready, to be honest. I think I improved my knowledge. It was really good. “
Alarcón considered that his main improvement in this camp, compared to last year, was in his pass blocking, for which he has worked overtime with personalized help from coaches and teammates, such as Tyler Biadasz, who is emerging as the starting center of the Cowboys.
This Sunday, as in the previous game, his mother and two brothers accompanied Alarcón to the stadium to support him in the game.
The Cowboys will decide in the next few hours for the players who will start the season and those who will go to the practice team, where Alarcón can have another year as an international player exception.
