Dante Vanzeir clarifies a possible departure from Union and interest from Martinez

No man has been more assertive in the Jupiler Pro League in recent weeks than Dante Vanzeir at Union.

At Union they pinch the buttocks after the strong performance of Dante Vanzeir. A transfer could just happen during the last days or hours of the mercato.

Vanzeir, however, remains on the plain. “I don’t think I need to leave. My focus is on Union and I still have everything to prove in first class,” he tells Het Nieuwsblad. “I don’t need a transfer, I think.”

Vanzeir is well aware that he is in a position where he can do his thing. “I’m not on it and if something comes up, it’s up to my manager to find out if there’s anything interesting in it. I don’t see why I should go to another team in the first division. I am comfortable here in a familiar environment.”

Vanzeir also remains ignorant about the interest of national coach Martinez. “I didn’t know he was following me at all. If I can continue on this momentum, we’ll see what happens. I’m just trying to have a good season, but it’s a pleasant surprise to play in the head of the national coach.”
