However, the Paraguayan team, through the Paraguayan Football Association, does not renounce that Miguel Almirón, one of its figures, plays with Albirroja in these three games. Newcastle United did not give him permission to travel. And he will not stay still, he even has in mind a strong protest that could lead to big problems between CONMEBOL and European football.
Robert Harrison, president of the Paraguayan federation, assured that “Almirón will not be called off from the national team. There are regulations that must be complied with, we always comply and now Newcastle did not comply with us, we are going to urge the club to release the player ”.
And he added that “we sent a plane to Almirón, so that Newcastle realize the mistake they made. We were in solidarity with them to give him the player in advance after previous combos ”.

Paraguayan leader Robert Harrison revealed that he is preparing a petition to CONMEBOL, and expects the support and union of the other South American federations, to protest against the main European leagues and put pressure on FIFA to set a precedent.
“We are going to fall into the same situation again and we are not going to count on the players anymore. If they did it once, they did it twice and why won’t they do it a fourth time. We have to act as a block and that is a proposition that we are going to do it at CONMEBOL. We as Paraguay are going to ask not to play the Qualifiers (in October) if this continues, ”said President Harrison.
