(Ulsan = Yonhap News) Reporter Gwangmu Heo = Ulsan City announced on the 2nd that it had completed the Munsu Gymnasium, the first multi-purpose gym in the region.
In preparation for the 103rd National Sports Festival to be held in Ulsan next year, the city started construction on the site inside Ulsan Sports Park in March 2019 and built the Munsu Gymnasium in about two years and four months.
The site area is 24,75m2, with 1 basement level and 3 above ground, a total area of 18,350m2, and 4,17 seats for spectators.
The total project cost was 571 billion won.
It can be used for sports such as basketball, volleyball, badminton, handball, bowling, and table tennis, and will be used as a national sports stadium next year.
It is expected to be highly utilized as an indoor sports facility for citizens’ leisure activities and health promotion.
In particular, the city expects that it will serve as a multi-purpose gymnasium with sound facilities that can be used as a multi-purpose venue such as concerts.
A city official said, “It is expected that a gym with the best facilities will be built in Ulsan Sports Park, where there are various sports facilities such as soccer fields, baseball fields, archery fields, swimming pools, and tennis courts, and it is expected to become popular as a training ground for domestic athletes.”
