Club TL with a difference – SHIAI-DO judo team

Because of the daring summer planning due to the Corona situation, the vacations, driving schools, vaccination appointments and summer jobs of many of our fighters fell on exactly the week when the TL club should have taken place. But cancellation was never an option. So the SHIAI-DO Action Days were born, in which a small but fine group trained as hard, if not harder than on a normal TL for 6 days, but at the same time the “prevented” as many units as possible externally could come. And that worked so well that one can only wish for a new edition of the SHIAI-DO Action Days for the coming year!

It all started last Sunday, of course, with a judo unit, in which the main techniques of the week were practiced for the first time. Afterwards there was a via ferrata with 2 tests of courage and after a crisp strength training at the limits of resilience, we briefly actively regenerated together.

It continued on Monday, after a morning running unit, in the FlipLap, where intensive jumping and work on balance, stability and body control was carried out, followed by a judo unit and a strange ball game / strength unit with volleyball, basketball, soccer and judo tennis in the funny way was constantly climbed on the rope.

On Tuesday, then a special highlight. Surf professional Michael MAYERHOFER taught our group windsurfing all day. Well, there was no wind, but it was certainly exhausting enough. Constantly stabilize, heave the sails out of the water, change sides, splash and all over again. In the evening, the Randori training club was the end of a great day. THANK YOU again to Michi for this great action!

On Wednesday running, judo, Kraftkammer and yoga were on the program again, before the day ended this time with a visit to the cinema.

On Thursday the troupe faced the next “cool” action on the program. After a short journey, neoprene suits were made for canyoning. Hiking, swimming, sliding, jumping (up to 7m), abseiling and all of that in the ice-cold water but also in the wonderful backdrop of the Lower Austrian gorge. In addition to the sporting value, there was also the absolute fun factor!

Then of course we went back to the judo mat for the 2nd club Randori training this week and despite the penultimate day and visibly tired athletes, we were again fully attacked and attacked.

No sooner had the action started than the last of the Action Days began on Friday. So all forces were mobilized again and after practicing using the via ferrata set last Sunday, the group was ready for the next challenge. It went to the Hohe Wand, where it first went up over the Hanselsteig and down again over the Leiterlsteig. But that wasn’t enough, the Währinger Steig was tackled and mastered by everyone without any problems. After the descent there was the last judo training, where everything was repeated again that was learned this week and after the final stretching, everyone went to a well-deserved weekend.

Trainer Matthias KARNIK was very satisfied and proud of the commitment, courage, self-conquest, perseverance and fun that the team around Iris FELFERNIG, Lea PRUZSINSKY, Eric FRISCHAUF & Schora GHEVONDYAN showed together during this TL and also expressly thanked them for the many external partners who not only participated in the Randori units, but also diligently supported the other units!
