Cancellation of the Singapore Open

The organizers of the Singapore Open, initially scheduled between June 1 and 6, announced the cancellation of the tournament on Wednesday due to transport complications linked to the Covid-19 pandemic. The International Federation (BWF) added that it would not be rescheduled.

The Singapore Open, categorized as Super 500 on the World Tour circuit, was the last opportunity to score points towards a qualification for the Tokyo Olympic tournament which begins on July 23. It is canceled for the second year in a row.

« Everything has been tried by the organizers to allow the tournament to be held in the best possible environment for all participants. Unfortunately, the increase in contamination complicates travel, which led to the cancellation of the tournament in the general interest. », Says the BWF.
