Blues: Lenglet replaces injured Upamecano for September rally

Lenglet, present in June at the Euro but initially left aside for the first internship of the season, will join his 22 teammates in Strasbourg, where the Blues go on Tuesday on the eve of receiving Bosnia-Herzegovina in qualifying for the 2022 World Cup (Wednesday, 8:45 p.m.).

The defender of Bayern Munich was out prematurely at half-time of his Bundesliga match against Hertha Berlin on Saturday (5-0), and his coach Julian Nagelsmann had mentioned “problems behind a thigh”, indicating that he did not want to “take of risk “.

Upamecano (22 years old, three caps) was called up for the first time a year ago by Didier Deschamps, playing three games. But he was then deprived of selection for several months, missing the list for the Euro.

He was one of the ghosts in the group called up to face Bosnia, then Ukraine in Kiev on Saturday and Finland in Lyon on Tuesday, September 7, after his passage from Leipzig to Munich in the offseason.

Present at Clairefontaine on Monday like his teammates on the first day of the rally, “Upa” will finally “be made available to his club on Tuesday”, according to the FFF.

Lenglet (26 years old, 13 caps) will join the Blues in Strasbourg, two months after having the elimination of the Euro against Switzerland (3-3, 5-4 tab) in the round of 16, the only meeting of the European Championship which he had started before being prematurely replaced by Deschamps.
