Two sisters from Hatay won the first place in the “Chess Tournament” organized by the Turkish Chess Federation and Kahramanmaraş Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports.
In the tournament held at the Onikisubat Sports Complex and attended by hundreds of athletes, Hataylı Deniz Yiğitbaşı came first in the 7-year-old category, while her older sister Duru Yiğitbaşı also marked the tournament by winning the 10-11-12 age categories.
1st and 4th grade students, Hatay sister-sister Duru and Deniz Yiğitbaşı, who received their medals at the award ceremony held for the athletes who ranked in the 2-day chess tournament, stated that their goal is to achieve greater success. The two sisters are good swimming and basketball players as well as chess players.
