ATP ranking returns to normal

From next August 23, when the Cincinnati tournament ends and for the first time since the circuit returned after the pandemic stoppage, ATP ranking points will be added and subtracted through the traditional methodology.

The Masters 1000 held in the state of Ohio, United States, will be the competition that marks the return, because those tennis players who appear will replace the points registered in the previous edition and those who do not will lose them. In addition, these units will be kept for 52 weeks, until August 22, 2022, on each player’s count.

For its part, the Masters 1000 in Canada, a tournament that will take place between the 9th and 15th of this month, will maintain the system called “Best Of”, devised as a result of the worldwide expansion of the Coronavirus and which was based on freezing the ranking of the players who did not participate in certain tournaments and, if they did, they would choose the one with the best performance and score.
