“At the Stade Toulousain, I always have the impression of being cadets with my friends”

At 34, the iconic rear of the Rouge-et-Noir has extended the adventure (at least) one more season. His role with the young and talented generation, his love of the jersey, his retraining…: Maxime Médard, with his usual frankness, confided at length to Le Figaro.

Le Figaro. How can you do better when you leave after a Top 14-Champiosn Cup double?
Maxime Médard: First by forgetting what we did last season. We have to start over and get back to work. By finding solutions to further develop our strategy, to invent new combinations. By trying to tell a new story.

Your manager, Ugo Mola, mentioned a track: put a little more panache in the game …
Stade Toulousain players are trained to take risks and take initiatives. To produce a game less framed than some clubs. But yes, there are certain sectors that we want to develop, increase, compared to last season. We must respect our DNA, continue to be daring.

Could a source of motivation be found in the possibility, this time, of living the course with the public?
We were lucky to be able to practice our profession, that was great. But it’s true that we missed the fervor.
